First Impressions are Always Lasting

First Impressions

Now your resume is complete…what’s next!!  Time to submit and prepare for interviews.   Appearance is one of the key points in your interview preparation.  How you present yourself in the interview process is key to your success.  Below, I have listed a few tips that will help you make lasting impressions and get the job.

  1. Dress for Success…Professionalism is important.  People who are well-groomed and well dressed make a positive impact during the interview process.  Remember your attire makes a statement about who you are as a person.  “A scuffed shoe, messy bag, short skirt, pants hanging low, dirty shirt will speak volumes to your character.  Absolutely no jeans and t-shirts  for any jobs you are interviewing for even if you talk to people who are currently wearing jeans to work. They already have the job; you don’t yet.” Professional attire or power outfit  makes you feel good about yourself  and make you look efficient, responsible and shows you are serious about doing well at the job. As resume services experts, we recommend you wear a navy blue or dark color suit.

  2. Take Plenty of Notes… Even a very confident individual should prepare in advance  Do your research and take notes about the company.  So you can go into the interview with your questions for the interviewee.

  3. Arrive on time….Promptness is important.  Demonstrates you are responsible and serious about getting the job.

  4. Get a good night’s rest… Going to bed on time will help you wake up refreshed and able prepare for an effective interview.

  5. Plan what to bring… Bring extra  copies of your resume on quality paper , a notepad or professional binder and pen and a  list of references.
